Handcrafted Wood Pens Made from Reclaimed Whiskey Barrels

Some materials carry a story long before they ever reach the workshop.
Crafted from Authentic Reclaimed Whiskey Barrels
Our reclaimed whiskey barrel pens begin as authentic oak barrels once used in the aging process of American whiskey. After years of use, the barrels are retired, but the wood itself still holds incredible character — rich grain patterns, deep coloring, natural imperfections, and even traces of the charred interior that helped shape the whiskey’s flavor.
At Whidden’s Woodshop, we carefully reclaim sections of these barrels and transform them into handcrafted wooden pens made one at a time in our Pennsylvania workshop. Each pen is individually cut, turned on the lathe, sanded, assembled, and finished by hand to create a writing instrument that is both functional and meaningful.
No two pens are exactly alike. The reclaimed oak develops unique grain patterns and textures through the whiskey aging process, giving every pen its own distinct appearance and personality.

Our Original Kickstarter Campaign
These whiskey barrel pens were also a major part of our story as a small business. One of our very first successful Kickstarter campaigns centered around handcrafted pens made from reclaimed whiskey barrels, helping us grow Whidden’s Woodshop from a small hobby into the family business it is today.

Over the years, we’ve continued refining our pen designs while staying true to what made them special in the first place: meaningful materials, handcrafted quality, and products designed to last.
Whether you’re searching for a unique gift, a conversation piece for your desk, or simply appreciate handcrafted woodworking, our reclaimed whiskey barrel pens offer a connection to craftsmanship and history that mass-produced products simply can’t replicate.
