Gina Shatney, educator, homeschool evaluator, and co-owner of Whidden's Woodshop

About Gina

Gina Shatney is an educator, homeschool evaluator, and co-owner of Whidden's Woodshop. Her passion for helping students learn spans more than two decades and includes classroom teaching, homeschooling, educational mentoring, and curriculum support.

Before homeschooling her own children, Gina taught sixth grade in West Philadelphia. During her years in the classroom, she enjoyed helping students connect literature, mathematics, and creative projects in meaningful ways.

Over the last twenty years, Gina has homeschooled five children while helping other families navigate their educational journeys. As a homeschool evaluator, she has reviewed portfolios, encouraged parents, and worked with students across a wide range of learning styles and interests.

Her educational philosophy focuses on helping students develop curiosity, ownership, and a lifelong love of learning. She believes that some of the most meaningful learning experiences happen when students are given opportunities to pursue their interests and engage with the world around them.

Whidden's Woodshop

In addition to her educational work, Gina co-owns Whidden's Woodshop with her husband, John. Together they create personalized gifts, engraved pencils, handcrafted pens, educational supplies, ornaments, and custom products for customers throughout the United States.

Many of Whidden's Woodshop's educational products are inspired by Gina's experiences as both a teacher and homeschool parent. She understands firsthand the value of practical tools that students and educators actually use every day.
